Getting to Exuma
Flights into Exuma International Airport, the small airstrips in the cays, and what to expect when you land.

Most people arrive by air at Exuma International Airport (airport code GGT) near Moss Town on Great Exuma, about fifteen minutes by road from George Town. Schedules change with the seasons, so check the airline's own site before you book connections.
Flying in
At the time of writing, Exuma International Airport has nonstop service from Miami and Charlotte with American Airlines, Atlanta with Delta, Fort Lauderdale with Silver Airways, Toronto with Air Canada in the winter season, and Nassau with Bahamasair and Western Air. Many of the United States routes run only on certain days or only in high season, and routes do change, so treat this as a starting point rather than a timetable.
The cays have their own airstrips
If you are heading straight to the northern cays, Staniel Cay has an airstrip served by small scheduled carriers and charters from Florida and Nassau. Several charter companies based in Florida fly to both Great Exuma and the cays. See the air charter listings below.
When you land
The terminal is small and you will be through quickly. Taxis meet every flight and fares are set by distance, so agree the price before you set off. Car rental companies either have a desk at the airport or will meet you there if you have booked ahead, which is strongly recommended in high season. There is a restaurant and bar by the airport if your pickup is delayed.
Arriving by sea
A mail boat sails from Potter's Cay in Nassau to George Town roughly once a week. It carries freight and a few passengers and takes most of a day, so it is an adventure rather than a shortcut. Visiting boats clear customs and immigration in George Town, where Elizabeth Harbour is one of the best known cruising anchorages in the Bahamas.
